Another firearm taken away from gangsters

While out on patrol, our Liquor & Vice specialized unit along with our Law Enforcement, partnered with Muizenberg SAPS to help enforce the Disaster Management Act regulations. Tonight we were looking at ensuring the prohibition for sale of alcohol was enforced with the areas of Hillview and Overcome Heights, where often alcohol becomes a major contributing factor for trauma related cases in the surrounding Healthcare facilities. While also checking up on a known drug-house, members attached to our volunteer Auxiliaries division brought a suspicious vehicle to a stop, where a passenger disembarked and attempted to flee the scene. A scuffle ensued where a firearm was dislodged from the suspects waistband, when the suspect managed to get away. The firearm that was recovered was a Star 9mm, with its serial number removed and with a live round already chambered. It was later determined the vehicle that had been abandoned by the suspects had been previously stolen from the Kraaifontein area.
