@santhoshkumar.b92524 years ago I'm impressed with setien because every time Mallorca came back he substituted and has an idea to counter that keeping Mallorca quite... This was not in the case of Valverde... Setien is really improving Barca in terms of fitness and tactics wise... ... 333

@shalder84184 years ago I think Setien tried to switch wings by passing the ball through the middle, and not directly, cause that would stretch Mallorca across the pitch for about 5-10 seconds.. messi was often involved in these transitions through the middle and that opened up a lot of space for him, to thread in passes to Roberto and Alba, while mallorca tried to be compact again.. it was kind of ingenious.. while Barca moved the ball from the left to the right, mallorca tried to move towards the right and this opened up spaces for a few seconds.. that's why Messi wasn't spending too much time on the ball before making those throughs.. he usually spends a lot more time on the ball. He's adjusting to Setien's tactics and that's making the entire team work!! Valverde would just let messi do whatever he wanted while the rest of the team lacked the understanding to work around messi. I have really high hopes after seeing this performance from Barca! ... 116

@kshitijpandey65144 years ago We see the changes under Setien as barca were a more a counter attacking football team and Setien made these changes quite quickly as compared to other mangers as it would take a lot of time to change from counter attacking football team to a possession based team ... 75

@aamir86764 years ago Setien has really improved and has brought energy into our team. He really knows how to utilize the squad to their full potential. Yet some barca fans want him sacked after just months of being hired 68

@HIM-lk6of4 years ago I liked our fast start, early high press and counter press and Messi staying wider in early stages. He did do what he naturally wants to do which is drift infield however he was effective doing it.
Alba was very solid defensively, he was tested by Kubo however he got in several blocks and interceptions across the game. Araujo was also good, won those aerials and was safe with his distribution , looks a tank yet was able to move quickly.
I think we have to play that little bit more direct to see a better Griezmann. Several times he started runs and the pass didn't come... I know no player ever gets the pass everytime they make a run but Griezmann thrives on that direct quick transition football. He seems to still be playing within himself a bit. To his credit while not lighting up the attack he tracked back and pressed well... same for Martin, dude was unfortunate not to bag another goal.
Our substitutions didn't really lead to a drop in tempo or noticeably disjointed play. This was a wonderful way to return, hopefully we see continued improvement.

@rushinbhatt38614 years ago I have noticed a thing, that Valverde's Barca took about 15-20 mins, or maybe a full half to heat up. But under Setien, it takes much longer. Especially during this game, it took less than a minute ! Setien is a very good coach. Finished Las Palmas mid table, took Betis to the Europa League, and now hopefully will win many trophies with the best team in the world !!!!!! ... 10

@geetindersingh15614 years ago just one thing to add on,
When barca want to get jordi alba up with the ball on thr left side, the midfielder on the right side(vidal) moves close to Messi, and Roberto (RB) stays put in the midfield and the overcrowd in the right side to give Jordi alba the soace to run up the Left side, but this doesnt happenon the right side, in the case of right side, Messi just goes deeper and that is enough to make space for Roberto (they dont have to overcrowd, its coz of Messi’s high threat! This way they keep both sides balanced!
God knows what happens if messi wont. e there! lets see 😃

@sharegan68224 years ago Setien knew the team needed to kickoff with intensity and then gain control of this game. He right away picked vidal in his lineup and got the lead. vidal and the team then kept giving so much intensity. Right after halftime setien knew if the team doesn’t calm down now then they’ll tire and concede goals so changed vidal brought on rakitic and the team started to gain more control and composure. Played with patience. Barca passed a lot and waited for counter attacks. then he brought on arthur which gave even more energy and the support the team needed in midfield. Setien had the whole game under his control. Yes the players are great but we have to appreciate setien as well. Setien tries new things and if that doesn’t work he finds alternatives right away. He doesn’t stick to a plan that doesn’t work well. He is definitely leading barca the right way. He is the proper man in charge. Viscabarca💙❤️ ... 1

@shivampardeshi99774 years ago well gameplay was fluid and smooth. most importantly roberto was covering that right flank which messi usually leaves vacant since he tucks in to center. alba has improved his crossing which was disappointing before lockdown. but problems are still there in defence. Pique performance was below the bar since he is ageing. araojo was decent considering his first game. overall we still need dedicated centerback who is fast and has good passing sense. ... 2

@aharans.e93104 years ago I also noticed that even though as mentioned in the vid Messi pushed infield ..messi also stayed out wide as a passing option and often took defenders on in 1v1 situations

@billyjackson80504 years ago One thing that I noticed in regards to Barca overcoming mallorcas midfield which links into what you’re saying is that when the 2 fullbacks pressed/moved higher, the 2 centre backs would move into the wider positions forcing the 2 strikers of Mallorca to follow them in order to prevent Barca’s buildup from the back. However this left a clear gap for an easy pass through the middle to Barca’s midfield. Now the defensive line has been overcome, MAT can easily make a direct pass into a deep lying midfielder and create a 3 v 2 situation in the middle of the Mallorca midfielders haven’t followed the Barca midfields inwards. Even if they do follow the high pressing Barca fullbacks kw have space on the flanks to create options. Great video aswell, I thoroughly enjoyed. ...
  • @
@aaassaeer4 years ago One interesting stat I noticed in this video and that probably tells us how far we are from the earlier dominant Barca teams. The passes/defensive action is a great parameter to measure the press. Barca allowed Mallorca approximately 8 passes/defensive action. This same number was around 5.5 passes/defensive action under Lucho. Just shows dominant that Barca was off the ball. Under Setien we are definitely improving and I hope we see that similar off the ball domination as in the past. ...

@karthikvarun2434 years ago I'm very happy to see football and Barca back. I think seitien is just getting started, these are very positive signs. As we all know seitien is an admirer of cryuffian philosophies and he's doing just that. We are playing out from the back, maintaing our width with Messi and braithwaite while we have the ball in our defensive area, after we get to the final third we give freedom and fluidity to the attackers were Messi goes central full backs cover the width braithwaite, Vidal and griezman comes into the box. It's all positive signs. But I think there are large parts of our game we should seriously improve, for instance diagonal ball. For example when Messi maintains his width in the wider area and the ball is with our left back Jordi alba and we have having the ball and passing it around in the left side of the pitch, Messi would have lots of space as Mallorca are covering Thier right side. So at that time we have to hit a diagonal pass from De jong or alba or busq, to break Thier defence. We can't pass our way to messi, then they'll reshape Thier stance. Anyways I'm sure we'll improve under seitien. Visca Barca! ...

@TGClanManudo024 years ago I still think that one of the attacking midfielders (FDJ or Arthur when he plays) should come closer to Busquets and help him with the build-up. Too many times the central defenders passed the ball between them because Busquets was covered and there was no clear passing option. As you say, there's more positional fluidity, but I would like to see that fluidity also vertically. Big fan of your channel btw! ...

@danielgalea84994 years ago The early goal changed the game. It allowed Barca to be relaxed and calm. This team is mentally fragile, so if the game progresses long periods without a goal they don't have enough belief they will score, they hope they will.
Because of the early goal, they could relax and play with more freedom and no frustration.
I think overall it was good but better teams will be more compact and hardly to break through so we have to wait and see. Roberto and Alba got behind the fullback twice as often as usual, which is obviously very good, but hard to produce against better teams.
I still believe De Jong should play deeper, especially against the strong teams, his press resistance is far more valuable than his final third contributions.

@ebenezerosaghae4 years ago It was a decent away performance. I felt we could improve in chance creation, cause our 3 midfielders are usually better in deeper positions, none of them are really the final ball types. If we had one it would help for chance creation that doesnt involve messi.
also the lack of a true winger when fati isnt on the pitch but we work around that

@kristiansantosa29974 years ago You didn't give credit to Griezmann for his valiant defending during 1st half.
Griezmann was very often tracked back to Barca's own box and won the ball / cleared the threat.
Is this Griezmann's personal choice? Or part of Setien's tactic?
    What do you think?

@majdydanaf64794 years ago I liked what setien did, and to be honest i was even surprised that barca played tat well. Kubo is really talented and he was their main threat. Defensively we are still a bit suspect but we did not give them 1 on 1’s and mainly their attacks were due to a misplaced pass from the defense(which is fine since they are a bit rusty). Anyways, 3+ points, cleansheet, no injuries. Great result ...

Vidal is doing a better job of imposing his imprint on every game. Where Arthur, Rakitic (he once did) do not.
Arthur is too talented and young (sub-prime) to not impose his will on games.
Same goes for Puig (but he’s real young).
Aruajo has imposed himself in each game he played. Earning more playing time.
